Ord Minnett are delighted to announce Adelaide Adviser Richard Staunton is a key organiser and participant in Tour de Legacy - Europe 2018 with Ord Minnett sponsoring the event.  As a passionate cyclist who races throughout the summer seasons, Richard has been integral in organising each of the three Tour de Legacy fundraising rides.  The event this year has added significance given it’s the final year in the centenary of WWI, the centenary of our ANZACs.

Tour de Legacy first launched in 2013 by a group of keen and determined Adelaide cyclists, in conjunction with the Legacy Club of Adelaide. The first two rides involved the likes of cycling superstars,  Stuart O’Grady and Patrick Jonker. 2018 marks the final year of the ANZAC Centenary.

To commemorate, the Legacy Club of Adelaide will be leading a group of 20-30 cyclists through the infamous battlefields of the Western Front in Belgium and France, beginning with a royal send-off in London. The group will ride 900km over 8 days before attending the Centenary Memorial Service at Villers-Bretonneux on Remembrance Day, November 11 2018.

"Along with a handful of gung-ho ‘weekend warriors’ & over a post-ride coffee we dreamt up the idea to ride from Melbourne to Adelaide in 2013. To this day, I am still awed with how well it all went! We raised over $60k and a lot of awareness for Legacy, which was a huge success. Then, not to sit idle, we dared to dream about doing it again! In 2015 we rode from the nation’s War Memorial in Canberra back to the War Memorial in Adelaide, raising over $150k!

As you can imagine, we now have the bug! This year marks an historic event in the final year of the centenary of WWI, so of course we are setting off from London. We hope to raise much needed funds and awareness for Legacy as we traverse some of our diggers’ infamous battle sites to conclude on Armistice day. Please give generously for the cause!"
