While our corporate origins date back to 1872, the Ord Minnett name was established in 1951 by Charles Ord and Jack Minnett after meeting in the Australian Imperial Force in the Second World War. The pioneering spirit of our namesakes lives on today. Our History
Ord Minnett is rich in history. Our origins date back to 1872, making us one of Australia’s oldest wealth firms.
The Ord Minnett (pronounced ‘minute’) name stems from its founders, Charles Ord and Jack Minnett, who met in the Australian Imperial Force during the Second World War. Together, they built the foundations of an advice business that has become a highly respected name in the Australian investment landscape.
Over the years, the Ord Minnett brand has changed under different ownership, and at one stage, was even owned by one of Australia’s big four banks.
However, CEO and Managing Director Karl Morris led a management buyout in 2019 so Ord Minnett is now proudly owned by its employees and a small number of Australian investors.
