Board Members


Karl Morris AO

Karl Morris is the Chief Executive and Managing Director of Ord Minnett and has been with the business for more than 30 years.
Karl was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) on Australia Day 2019, for distinguished service to the financial and stockbroking sectors, and to the community through a range of organisations. In 2022, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of the Griffith University for his distinguished service to the financial industry, and for service to the wider community through a range of organisations, including leadership and support of Griffith University.
Karl is Chairman of the Brisbane Broncos Ltd, Chair of Braveheart's Foundation Fund, Patron of the Mary MacKillop Fund, and National Vice Patron of Bravehearts. He is a Master Member (and former Chair 2012-2018) of the Stockbrokers and Financial Advisers Association of Australia, former Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) Council of Governors in Queensland, former Chairman of QSuper (2013-2019) and was a Board Member of the Australian Catholic University. He also sits on the Investment Committees of the Catholic Archdioceses of Brisbane and Sydney.
Karl is a Commerce graduate of Griffith University and holds diplomas from the Stockbrokers and Financial Advisers Association of Australia, FINSIA and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Michael Arthur

Michael was appointed as an Executive Director at Ord Minnett in July 2023 and has been a Private Wealth Adviser at the company for more than 20 years.
Michael is a leading Senior Private Wealth Adviser and is heavily involved in the Groups charitable efforts, largely through the Ord Minnett Charities Fund.
Previously, Michael has held practice management roles in the Ord Minnett business.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Accounting, Certified Financial Planner certification and an SMSF Specialist Advisor accreditation.

The Hon. Warwick Smith AO

Hon. Warwick Smith AO has been the Chairman at Ord Minnett since March 2020.
Mr Smith has more than 20 years’ experience in banking and financial services, in addition to a parliamentary career spanning 15 years where he was an Australian Federal Government Minister.
Warwick holds the position of Chairman Advisory Board - Australian Capital Equity, holders of interests in Seven Group Holdings of which he is a Board Director, Seven West Media, Boral, Coates Hire, Beach Energy, WesTrac and Caterpillar industrial services and equipment in Western Australia and New South Wales. He is the Director and Commonwealth Nominee of Marinus Link Pty Ltd and is the Lead Independent Director of Jemena Pipeline and Energy. With the Business Council of Australia, Warwick is the Chairman of the Global Engagement Committee.
Mr Smith was formerly an Executive Director with the Macquarie Bank Group as well as Chairman New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory and former Senior Managing Director for the ANZ Banking Group Limited, which included Chairman of ANZ Bank China and Chairman of ANZ Bank Thailand. He has previously been Chairman of E*TRADE Limited, Board Director of Estia Health Ltd and Chairman of the Australian Sports Commission. He is the immediate past Chairman of the National Museum of Australia, the Australia–China Council and the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations.
He was Australia’s first Telecommunications Ombudsman, received a Centenary Medal and twice been awarded an Order of Australia.

Greg MacKay

Greg Mackay is an experienced financial services executive with a career spanning almost 40 years, including 24 years at Macquarie Group, where he was an Executive Director. During this time, Greg developed extensive expertise in equity and equity derivative trading as well as structured products.
Since 2013, Greg has been a Partner at Alfred Street Investment Partners. In addition, he serves as Chair and Director at Forager Funds Management, a role he has held since 2018, where he provides strategic oversight and guidance.
Greg is also deeply committed to education and community service. Since 2017, he has served as Chair and Director of Saint Ignatius' College Riverview, demonstrating his dedication to fostering leadership and excellence in education. Furthermore, Greg plays a key role in corporate governance as an external member of the Ord Minnett Compliance Committee, a position he has held since 2018.

Bruce Mathieson Jnr

Bruce Mathieson Jnr has extensive senior management experience, specialising in the hospitality industry.
Demonstrating his exceptional leadership and strategic vision, Bruce worked at ALH Hotels, where he progressed from Southern Operations Manager to CEO over a period of 20 years. Bruce has since served as Managing Director of Hotels at Endeavour and has held multiple roles with the Australian Hotels Association, further solidifying his expertise in the sector.
Bruce owns a portfolio of hotels and holds part-ownership in successful ventures across the pet food and fencing industries. In addition, Bruce is a current Director at Ecodetect, an innovative water technology start-up, and was a former Director of the Endeavour Group.

Ross Baildon

Ross Baildon has been the Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance at Ord Minnett since April 2014.
Ross has more than 30 years’ investment banking experience covering capital markets, equity sales, sales trading & trading. Ross has been instrumental in delivering and executing over 350 successful capital market transactions including pre-IPO, privatisations, IPOs, follow-ons and equity-linked across all Asia Pacific markets. Ross’ previous roles include Managing Director and Head of ECM Syndicate Asia for UBS and Credit Suisse.
Ross is a former board member of the Securities and Derivatives Industry Association (now SIAA), the pre-eminent Financial Services Industry Group and a non-executive director of the Brisbane Boys College Foundation.

Philip Chu

Philip Chu joined Ord Minnett in January 2010 as the Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to joining Ord Minnett, Philip was at the Commonwealth Bank where he was the Head of Wholesale Administration for the Colonial First State business and also Head of Operations in the Financial Planning business. Philip has also held senior positions at Citibank and NCR.
Philip is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Ord Minnett and has a focus on improving operating process and procedures. The Equities & Investment, Client Service Operations and IT & Business Applications teams report to Philip. He also manages key relationships with vendors, institutions and regulatory authorities.
Philip holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales and a Graduate Diploma of Management from Deakin University.

Angus Esslemont

Angus Esslemont has been Head of Institutional Equities since joining Ord Minnett in December 2021.
Angus focuses exclusively on servicing Ord Minnett’s institutional clients in the emerging company sector, including its trading and execution capabilities, company research and capital raising activities.
Angus has over 17 years of industry experience. Prior to working at Ords, he held several senior roles, most recently as Head of Emerging Company Equity Sales at Goldman Sachs. Angus is also a passionate rugby union supporter and currently serves on the board of Eastern Suburbs Rugby Club where he leads sponsorship.
Angus holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Commerce from the University of Sydney.
Angus Esslemont


Frank Hegerty

Frank was appointed the Head of Private Wealth at Ord Minnett in April 2023. He joined Ord Minnett in February 2020 and previously worked as State Manager for Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
Frank has a proven track record in leading high performing teams. As the Head of Private Wealth, Frank is responsible for the strategic direction and delivery for the wealth advisory business, the advisory network, account compliance and community partnerships. He has over 19 years’ experience in the industry was previously General Manager for Wilsons and has held senior roles in wealth advisory, credit, and banking sectors.
Frank is a dual Olympian and Olympic medallist in Rowing and was recognised as an Australia Day ambassador in 2009. He is also Director of The Stockbrokers and Investment Advisors Association, and not-for-profit Lymphoma Australia.
Frank holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Sydney, MBA from LaTrobe University, Diploma of Financial Planning from Kaplan Professional and a Certificate of Applied Finance from Kaplan Professional.

Alastair Hunter

Alastair joined Ord Minnett in January 2023 as Head of Institutional Research.
Alastair has over 30 years’ experience working in the Australian investment markets. Previously, he was the Chief Investment Officer for an investment manager and has worked for over 20 years within the Investment Research team of JBWere/Goldman Sachs, including a decade as Head of Investment Research. Alastair’s equity analyst focus has largely been on the financial sector and he was a top rated Bank analyst.
Alastair holds Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of Melbourne.

Aleta Keating

Aleta Keating joined Ords as Head of People and Culture in August 2023.
As an accomplished HR leader, Aleta brings a comprehensive skill set that includes business partnering, strategic and operational HR perspectives. With a proven track record in driving organisational success, Aleta is passionate about championing culture through empowering professional advancement and transformative growth. She also specialises in coaching senior executives, teams, and individuals to work more effectively during times of complex change to successfully navigate workplace challenges.
Aleta holds a Master of Science in Psychology of Coaching at Sydney University, in addition to academic degrees in HR and Adult Education.

Siobhan Keaton

Siobhan has been the Chief Marketing Officer at Ord Minnett since February 2023.
At Ord Minnett, Siobhan’s primary responsibility is to ensure the brand resonates with our clients. Her team provide clients with effective communications to demonstrate the diverse ways in which Ord Minnett can assist Australians and businesses in growing their wealth, through access to Ord Minnett’s premium advice and quality knowledge.
Siobhan is an award-winning marketer with more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, including five years at Perpetual Limited as Head of Marketing for Perpetual Private and General Manager Brand Strategy and Execution at Insignia Financial (formerly IOOF).
In Australia, Siobhan has also held marketing leadership positions at Shadforth Financial Group, MBF Group, ClearView Retirement Solutions and renowned advertising agency Leo Burnett. In the UK, Siobhan worked with advertising agency DMB&B, working with clients Mercury Asset Management, ING Barings and Credit Suisse.
Siobhan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Art Education) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Advertising.

Simon Kent-Jones

Simon has been the Head of Private Wealth Research at Ord Minnett since joining the business in October 2006.
He is responsible for investment strategy and portfolio management, working across our adviser network. Simon was previously the Head of Research for Private Wealth at Macquarie Bank, where he worked for more than 13 years.
Simon is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Master of Economics and a Bachelor of Business.

Ben Neville

Ben Neville was appointed Chief Financial Officer at Ord Minnett in July 2021 and also acts as Company Secretary of the Ord Minnett group. Ben joined Ord Minnett in August 2009, and has previously held roles including Head of Finance and Financial Controller.
Ben is responsible for the management of Ord Minnett’s financial position, financial risks and financial reporting. Ben also has key involvement in shaping the strategy of Ord Minnett.
Prior to joining Ord Minnett, Ben held senior Financial and Management Accountants roles at Lawrence Graham Law Firm in London, and PRA International.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Business Degree from the University of Technology Sydney, is an Accredited Derivatives Adviser, and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Melissa Nolan

Melissa was appointed Head of Compliance at Ord Minnett in January 2024.
Melissa joined Ord Minnett in 2020, following the acquisition of E.L. & C. Baillieu. Melissa has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and stockbroking.
Melissa is responsible for the Compliance function of Ord Minnett with focus on financial services regulation, risk and emerging risk issues and general compliance matters.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, a Master of Laws and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance.

Our History
Ord Minnett is rich in history. Our origins date back to 1872, making us one of Australia’s oldest wealth firms.
The Ord Minnett (pronounced ‘minute’) name stems from its founders, Charles Ord and Jack Minnett, who met in the Australian Imperial Force during the Second World War. Together, they built the foundations of an advice business that has become a highly respected name in the Australian investment landscape.
